Ukrainian restaurants in London: a local's guide (2026) with a map
February 15, 2026
Over the past few years, London's Ukrainian food scene has truly blossomed, largely driven by the wave of Ukrainian migration following the full-scale invasion. More than 200,000 Ukrainians have made the UK their home, and around 26,000 have settled right here in London.
My non-Ukrainian friends I've met here often ask me what Ukrainian cuisine is really like. Naturally, wanting to introduce them to our culture, I started hunting down the best spots. I was incredibly surprised to see that since the year I arrived, the number of Ukrainian places has grown massively — and they're super diverse!
In this post, I've put together a curated list of Ukrainian cafés and restaurants in London, complete with their locations. I've personally visited most of them and can highly recommend them — from classic, hearty comfort food to fancy tasting menus and cosy neighbourhood spots all over the city.
Best Casual Ukrainian Restaurants in London (Budget-Friendly)
SHO Ukrainian Restaurant
Bar-Cafe • Crouch Hill • Zone 3
A super cozy neighbourhood cafe with pub vibes, serving up traditional classics with a modern twist. Price range: around £20–£30 per person. They opened in late 2024 and perfectly combined the atmosphere of a cafe and a bar. If I lived nearby, I'd definitely be a regular on those days when I'm starving but too lazy to cook — their portions are incredibly generous!
Best for: A chill, relaxed dinner with classic dishes. A perfect intro to the cuisine.
XIX Nineteen
Restaurant • Stratford • Zone 2/3
Okay, while this isn't exclusively a Ukrainian spot (it's more of a mix of Ukrainian and broader European comfort food), XIX Nineteen is a wonderfully relaxed and versatile neighbourhood place. Price: Around £15–£30 per person, depending on what you get. The menu features soups, salads, dumplings, pancakes, amazing brunch plates, and other all-day options. They initially opened around 2019 before the pandemic, operating more as a coffee shop. Since then, they've completely rebranded and redesigned the space, evolving into a fully fledged restaurant with a much broader menu.
Dnister Restaurant
Restaurant • Forest Gate • Zone 3
Maximal old-school Ukrainian vibes with a strong community feel. The prices are amazing (most mains are under £10–£15), and the portions are huge. This is one of the "oldest" Ukrainian restaurants in London (running since 2005, which is a solid run!). It’s the ultimate choice for budget-friendly, traditional meals — especially if you miss that classic home-style cooking. The atmosphere is very down-to-earth and oriented toward the local Ukrainian community, packed with regular visitors. It’s not necessarily a spot you’d travel across all of London for, but if you're in the area — absolutely try it out. They also host events and have a stage for live music, keeping things lively and social!
Ole Kyiv (Старий Київ) at Chislehurst
Bar & grill • Chislehurst • Zone 5 • (~1h by train from London)
A vibrant restaurant offering great bar and grill options — perfect for banquets or big get-togethers. Their Chicken Kyiv was delicious, and the Honey cake gave me pure childhood flashbacks. Prices sit right around £30–£40 per person. You get amazing service, a warm welcome, and fantastic food. Pairing a visit here with a trip to the Chislehurst Caves makes for an incredible day out. They opened in 2023, and recently launched a second location right in central London!
Ole Kyiv at Old Street
Bar & grill • Old Street • Zone 1
I haven't actually visited this location yet, but I'm super excited to check it out. It's much more central, so I’m really curious to see how the vibe compares to the original spot.
Prosperity Ukrainian Cafe & Restaurant
Cafe • Twickenham • Zone 5
Here you'll find lovely service and great value, complete with imported beers and our beloved classic dishes. Perfect for a casual lunch or early dinner. Again, maybe not a high-end destination you'd cross the city for, but a super reliable choice if you're hanging out in the TW area.
Ukrainian Social Club
Canteen • Holland Park • Zone 2
This canteen boasts an incredible location right in the heart of West London, near Holland Park. It’s probably not the place I’d take my foreign friends to try Ukrainian food for the very first time, but it’s a brilliant option if you're attending a Ukrainian community event there, hence why I had to make sure it made the list! It’s the most informal spot on this list and very budget-friendly — ideal for a simple meal.
Since it operates as a club, they usually open from 6pm on weekdays and slightly later on Saturdays. Keep in mind that the menu shifts depending on the time of day. For example, syrnyky (cottage cheese pancakes) are traditionally a breakfast dish in Ukraine, so you're highly unlikely to find them if you visit on a random Tuesday evening.
Fine Dining Ukrainian Restaurants in London (Special Occasions) 🍷
Let's move on to the higher tier of Ukrainian dining, where the focus isn't just on the food itself, but on elevated presentation. London offers a few sophisticated spots that really showcase our cuisine's potential for refinement and artistry. These places blend traditional Ukrainian flavours with contemporary techniques, elegant plating, and perfectly curated aesthetics. They are perfect for special occasions, romantic date nights, or when you simply want to experience Ukrainian food through a more luxurious lens — expect thoughtful wine pairings, inventive twists on classics, and breathtaking dining rooms.
Mriya Neo Bistro
Restaurant • Earl's Court • Zone 1/2
Premium and modern vibes! They perfectly balance Ukrainian traditions with contemporary fine-dining, sitting in a higher price bracket — around £50 per person. They opened their doors in summer 2022 and absolutely set a new, high standard for Ukrainian cuisine in London.
Best for: A special night out or a fancy dinner with friends where the incredible food is the main event, thoughtfully complimented by a glass of wine.
Tatar Bunar
Restaurant • Shoreditch • Zone 1
A swanky, luxurious Ukrainian restaurant in Shoreditch where the interior designers truly delivered a 10/10. Picture warm wood, soft diffused natural light, and organic minimalist elements against a rustic backdrop. Portions here are tiny, resembling more of an upscale tasting menu experience. Price: Around £60+ per person. Tatar Bunar is a very recent addition to the scene, opened in 2025. I absolutely loved the aesthetic, but this is definitely an experience reserved for special occasions rather than a place to just fill up on food. I left slightly peckish.
Best for: Dates or dinners when you want something cultural, but also incredibly stylish and are fine with higher prices.
SINO
Restaurant • Notting Hill • Zone 1/2
Refined Ukrainian cuisine leaning heavily into fine-dining with a super elegant atmosphere. Prices sit around £50+ per person. The experience here is quite similar to Tatar Bunar — very thoughtful, highly Instagrammable, and inventive dishes backed by bold flavours. Best for: Date nights or dinners where you want a perfect blend of culture and style.
